IOSFS CONVENTION 2026

(in-person and online)

STORYTELLING
Finding and making meaning through Orff-Schulwerk

July 14th - 17th 2026

Department of Early Childhood Education,
National and Kapodistrian University of Athens,

13a Navarinou Street, Athens, Greece

ABOUT THE EVENT

Storytelling lies at the heart of the arts, stories help us to make sense of the world by addressing questions and concerns about existence, belonging, and purpose.

Whether retold or invented through poetry, music, dance, painting or sculpture, stories ignite our imaginations and inspire us to create and engage with various art forms. They prompt questions about self-discovery, personal growth, community, traditions, ethics, the sacred, and generational continuity.

What are the limits of story or narrative in artistic education?

The 2026 Convention will explore how stories shape our experiences and enable us to empathise with others. How can energetic participation emerge from both speaking and listening, from both narrative and metaphor, and from retelling, interpreting, and creating?
